Acne Rosacea in Adults

Thought you finally outgrew the days of bad skin and pimples? Well, think again! Many adults suffer from acne in their late twenties and thirties, even those that had never experienced the problem in adolescence. There are generally two types of adult acne - the more common form called Acne Vulgaris, and the more rare form called Acne Rosacea.

It is estimated that up to 85% of the American population between the ages of 12 to 24 years of age have suffered from some form of Acne Vulgaris. However, only about 5% of the population, or 13 million people, experience the aggravation and “rosy” cheeks of Acne Rosacea.

Acne Rosacea is a skin condition that is generally restricted to the face and eyes. It generally affects people between the ages of 30 to 60 years old. The condition is characterized by pimples, redness, and broken blood vessels.

At the onset, a person’s cheeks may tend to blush or flush very easily. However, as the rosacea develops further, redness will be noticeable around the nose area, and then extend over the remainder of the face. An extreme case might experience enlarged oil glands in the nose that can lead to an enlarged and bulbous red nose.

For those suffering from this condition, almost 50% will have issues extending to their eyes. Eye symptoms may include burning and tearing, redness, inflamed eyelids, or a scratchy feeling of something in the eyes.

Acne Rosacea is not medically dangerous, but is also incurable. The good news is that it can be controlled with treatment. The goal of the treatments is to minimize the symptoms and reduce sensitivity of the skin and eyes.

The first step in determining a treatment regimen is to identify possible “triggers”, which will be different for each individual. Acne Rosacea generally flares-up when an affected person is exposed to certain environmental or dietary conditions. Some common “triggers” may include hot baths, exercise, wind, cold weather, and certain skin products. This is by no means a comprehensive list.

The key to relief is to identify those conditions which tend to aggravate your Rosacea. Easier said then done, you say? Not really.

The National Rosacea Society recommends that you maintain a symptom diary. The purpose of your diary is to record what was eaten or the conditions immediately prior to the onset of a Rosacea flare-up. Over a few weeks time, you should start to see a pattern form that will give you insight into your own “triggers”. Of course, once you have these “triggers” identified, you can avoid these conditions by modifying your lifestyle or eating habits.

Other factors can also contribute to the exacerbation of Rosacea and should be avoided if at all possible. These factors include: avoiding direct sunlight, reducing stress, avoiding long workouts or exertion in hot weather, and limiting spicy foods and hot beverages.

Acne Program Step 9: Protein

Eating the right kind of food is what can give you a strong immune system and help you prevent sickness and all kinds of skin blemishes including acne.

Here are some of the foods that can help you overcome the acne on your face or throughout your body.

Protein

Eating excess meat is harmful to your health. Eating too much meat, more than 2-4 ounces per day, has been found to contribute to narrowing of the arteries.

If you do physical labor and are involved in a lot of movement in your work, then you should eat more than 2-4 ounces of protein per day. Just make sure that the meat has a minimum of additives and preservatives.

Remember, meat is high in saturated fat, which blocks the activity of EPA and DHA, which produce prostaglandin and control the activity of your hormones.

Meat and bread is a big contributor to creating constipation. Meat is difficult to digest and many times it will get into the colon partial digested. This condition benefits the bad bacteria and allows them to dominate the colon and create constipation.

Because meat and bread have little fiber, they move slowly in the colon, which leads to constipation and eventually to some type of colon inflammation.

Bad bacteria, decaying meat and other undigested food contribute to the build up of toxic matter in the colon. This is the type of condition you should try to avoid, if you have acne. You need fecal matter in the colon to move regularly and out the rectum, otherwise, toxic matter will build up and end up in your blood stream

Here are the grains you should be eating:

* Brown rice ? contain many amino acids that help rebuild skin tissue

* Whole grains ? contain folic acid, magnesium, and vitamin E, B vitamins, minerals, and fiber

* Oats ? use them in the morning with honey or raisins. Oats have an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and help to keep you regular.

Seeds and nuts

* Almonds - Almonds contain protein, the B vitamins, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus. Use them as a snack. These small nuts help to build muscles and tissue.

* Flax seeds ? These seeds are known for containing plenty of omega 3 oil, an essential oil for life. They also contain fiber when used ground up and put into smoothies. Omega 3 is also an anti-inflammatory oil, which is good for acne.

* Pecans ? This is one of the good nuts to eat. It contains Vitamin A, B?s, C, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium. Use them as a snack.

* Pine nuts ? these nuts also one of the best to eat. They contain vitamin A, C, B?s, protein and iron.

* Sesame seeds ? They are high in calcium, phosphorus, and potassium. They are helpful in relieving various skin diseases such as acne by reducing the swelling.

Acne Program Step 6 Juices You Should Be Drinking

Drinking fruit juices help to bring vitamins and minerals quickly into your blood where they can supply what is necessary for acne free skin. Minerals quickly neutralize skin acids and bring the skin pH back to normal - slightly acidic.

Fresh juices have antibacterial action and contain digestive enzymes that help you digest protein and fat.

Here are some juices to drink that will keep your face free of acne.

Apple juice

Drink at least 2 glasses of this juice every day. Apple juice has a high level of minerals and vitamins, which makes it ideal for skin health.

Apricot - berry juice

Mix equal parts of apricot and berry juice and add a little honey to taste. Drink one cup in the morning. Place the other two glasses into a thermos and drink one more glass at noon and one at dinner.

Cherry juice

Cherry juice is a powerful drink, because it has so many minerals. It will make your body more alkaline by neutralizing acid waste in the blood, in the lymph liquid and wherever it goes. It will also help keep you regular.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is one of the best juices you can drink for your skin health. It contains many minerals, which will eliminate acid waste. Lemon juice will help constipation, liver disorders, reduce mucus accumulation, improve digestion, reduce infections, and help to clear skin disorders like acne.

One way I use lemon juice is to squeeze the juice of one lemon into 16 oz water and drink it during the day.

Melons

Melon juice is also an excellent drink for acne. It is almost a perfect food in that it has many vitamins and minerals. It is most helpful with constipation, kidney disorders and skin disorders.

Orange and grapefruit

Prepare half and half of orange and grapefruit juice using a hand juicer. The flavor is extremely tasty. The combination of these two fresh fruits will give you a powerful start in the morning. They will give you a vitamin C boost with plenty of flavanoids and minerals.

These combined fruits will cleanse your intestinal tract, help in blood disorders, liver disorders, lung disorders and skin infections.

Orange and lemon juice

Mix 3 parts of orange juice with one part lemon juice. Add a little water and honey and put into a thermos. Drink the juice all day long for glowing skin.

Lemon juice helps the skin to rejuvenate and grow new skin. It helps the skin to flake off old skin and improve the skin’s metabolism.

Acne Program - Adding Essential Fatty Acids To Your Diet

Getting sufficient essential fatty acids is importance in clearing acne. It’s these fatty acids that help control the production of androgens - the hormones that surge during the teen-age times, which causes excess sebum oil to clog your hair follicle and contribute to creating your acne.

The three fatty acids you need daily are omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9. You need more omega 6, olive oil, than omega 3.

When you are deficient in the essential fatty acids, you will have,

? A weaken immune system
? Inflammatory disorders
? Poor skin
? Skin eruptions that won’t heal
? Increase sebum production causing acne
? Sebaceous glands size increase

Eating essential oils is necessary to provide the right oils that are used in the sebaceous glands. These oils can come from straight vegetable oils or from oils in specific foods such as nuts and seeds.

Use flax seed oil (omega-3 oil) and olive oil (omega-6 oil) in your salad. These are the best oils to eat and are called polyunsaturated fatty acids. The other oil that is even better for you is called monounsaturated fatty acid, omega-9. This oil is found in avocados.

Most diets people have contain an excess of omega-6 oils, so mostly likely you need to concentrate on getting more omega-3 oils into your diet.

You can get omega-3 oil from,

? avocados
? sesame seeds
? pumpkin seeds
? walnuts
? dark leafy green vegetables (spinach, mustard greens, kale)
? wheat germ oil
? salmon
? sardines
? albacore tuna

Or, you can take one to 4 tablespoon of flax seed oil, omega-3 oil, each day. This will give you the amount of omega-3 oil that your body needs to reduce or eliminate acne blemishes. You can add this oil to your morning cereal, soups, smoothies, salads and other liquid foods. Each tablespoon of flax seed oil contains about 100 calories.

After much research there are 3 main reasons why and how people get it.

1. At the cancer league they discovered that 100% of all breast cancer patients, none of them have iodine in their systems. The most enriched form of Iodine is seaweed. With all of the sushi sales in the old times few years more and more people are eating seaweed so that will help allot.

2. Deodorant is a major factor also. Try to only buy deodorants that have accommodate no aluminum. You are rubbing aluminum into your arm pits daily, and that metal is good for no one ever! Only get deodorants that say deodorant and if it says antiperspirant then never buy it.

Try not to cook with aluminum, confound away any Teflon pans that you own- and only use Iron pans.

3. If you get pregnant then please nurse your baby if you are able. Try to Florence Nightingale for at least 6 months. It is healthy for the baby and it will greatly reduce your risk for getting breast cancer. Studies show that longer you nurture the less likely you are to get it.

It’s unbelievable … What if I told you that most of the popular beliefs about acne, are in fact myths?

Let?s take a look at some popular beliefs about acne to dispel any other rumors …

Myth #1: Is it true that increased stress spreads acne?

Not exactly. What is true is that ultimately stress can have a very minimal or minor influence all by itself. It cannot actually cause acne, but it can influence reoccurrences of acne as stress increases the body?s creation of a substance called cortisol that in turn causes your sebaceous glands to produce increased amounts of sebum oil that can be blocked in pores. Note, however, that some medications people take when trying to deal with or treat stress can have a large influence on acne as the result of medication side effects.

Myth #2: Acne is contagious, true or false?

Not! No one can “catch” acne; it is non-communicable.

Myth #3:You’ll outgrow acne, so just leave it alone - myth or truth?

This is false. Acne strikes all ages and is treatable, but shouldn?t be left alone to possibly worsen.

Myth #4: Being out in the sun helps acne, right?

In the long run, no. The sun may appear to help clear up your blemishes and redden your skin, thus lessening the overall reddish effect of the targeted acne area when it was outstanding. However, rays from the sun can cause skin damage and actually irritate skin more, worsening any existing acne problems in the process and clogging more pores as skin cells dry up and slough off quicker than normal. So use caution (and sunscreen) here!

Myth #5: Sweating helps clean out your hair follicle areas, myth or reality?

Another myth. In reality, strenuous activity can temporarily increase your body?s oil production that can actually worsen acne problem areas, causing recurrence or intensification.

Myth #6: Acne problems are directly proportionate to sexual activity, or lack thereof; true or false?

False, another myth. Just because teenagers are going through hormonal changes, does not mean that this has anything to do with acne. Both are separate issues. Same with adult acne and sex; two entirely different issues.

Myth #7: People with acne are dirty and don?t wash enough.

Not! This is another myth. Acne is the result of a build up of oil, dead skin cells and bacteria in a closed pore. Period. Dirt is not even a factor in the equation.

Myth #8: Acne is only on external issue or surface deep; i.e. people shouldn’t make such a big thing out of it, myth or reality?

Myth. In reality, yes, it basically is only on your skin (and underneath the surface a little bit). However, the effects run much more deeper than that in many instances. More than 50 percent of those suffering acne problems reported negative comments and other feedback from members of society, regardless of whether or not there was any scarring left for others to see afterwards. And resulting internal depression and low self-esteem can be harmful emotionally not only short-term but over a person’s lifetime. So acne can indeed be a very big issue requiring healthcare treatment and support.

Myth #9: OK, myth or reality: there is a cure for acne?

Myth. Although there is no cure at this time, there are many treatments available that do a great job. As the saying goes, “Prevention is the best medicine;” however, there is no need to suffer in silence with all the options available on the market today for all price ranges.

Acne a Nightmare

Saturday night is coming and you are planning with your friends what to do during the weekend. You don’t know if you go to the movies or if you go to that brand new dance club in that fancy neighbourhood. The thing is that all of you have plenty of things to study and because of that you decide to go to the movies. However, the cutest guy from the football team comes to you and asks you out. It is obvious you accept that invitation that you have been waiting for so long.

You and your friends spend the rest of the week planning this date. Everything seems to be ready and perfect. Saturday finally comes. You wake up happy and as soon as you got up and walk to the bathroom… Ahhhhhhhh! A big pimple is there! In the middle of your forehead! And you are not havig a nightmare: the pimple is really there.

Just who had been through something like this can describe the feeling. That?s why learning about acne is so important. Keeping skin healthy can be the difference between being gorgeous on the date of your life or being noticed due to something on the forehead.

Acne And Its Causes

There is no real understanding why humans develop acne, many reasons suspected but never proven. These include living conditions, the food you eat, the atmosphere you social in, continuous sweat from sports, make up, or from purposely picking at small spots which then start to spread. Not one of these suspected causes is a real factor and is only a presumption among specialists.

Technically acne develops in parts of the skin that produce oils, and these are called pilosebaceous follicles. The oil builds up in a blocked pore which in turn provides the perfect breeding ground for the skin bacteria named Propionibacterium to spread and multiply without any control. If the acne is formed and spreads deep in the skin, this can cause cysts, which is considered to be the worst form of acne as this can lead to scarring in future years. Therefore acne treatment as soon as possible so as to stop the spread and seriousness of the acne is vital.

Acne is mainly common with young teenagers, and the majority develop a milder form of acne. It is also found in young adults around the age of 30, but not as common as young teenagers. If you are going to get acne, it is best to get it out the way as quick as possible. Unfortunately in today’s society, having acne as a teenager, does not just visually effect you, but also leads to other teenagers bullying you mentally, and in some cases physically, which leads to added depression and suffering for the acne patient.

If you can cure acne by simply eating well, socializing in clean areas, do not drink a lot of alcohol and take drugs, wash using soaps that do not react with your skin, then you stand a much better chance of not leaving scars and damaging your health for the future, as medications that are prescribed by doctors now a days to kill off the acne, can have long lasting effects on your body, which can lead to additional illnesses in the future.
